Reserve Forces Day March (RFD)

 

RFD takes place annually on or near the first Sunday in July, Members can obtain information on the RFD website for local activities.

 

The Sydney March will assemble at 1100 hrs on Sunday 6 July in College Street, adjacent to St Mary’s Cathedral. The RFD Committee has advised that the preferred dress code is Blue Jacket with medals and decorations, tie, grey or fawn trousers with beret. Woven Association beret badges are available from the Merchandise Officer, 6 Apex Ave Picnic Point, Tel 02 9774 1473.

 

The (Sydney) post- march watering hole is the Sporters Bar, Menzies Hotel

 

 

10th Anniversary Year of the Association

 

2008 is the 10th Anniversary Year of the Association. The AGM on 13 July 2008 will form part of another Hunter Valley Locators Weekend that will also comprise the 10th Anniversary dinner the evening before, a Remembrance Ceremony and BBQ lunch. Committee meetings

 

Committee meetings are held regularly at Paddington RSL commencing at 1000 hrs and members are cordially invited to attend. More details will be available in the next issue of the Associations Newsletter LOCREP.

 

 

Working Bees

 

The Working Bees at the RAA National Museum are normally held on the last Sunday of each month. All future dates will be confirmed  in the  Associations Newsletter.

 

Working Bees commence at 0900 hrs and conclude with an Association-funded BBQ at 1400 hrs at the North Fort Mess.

 

 

40th Anniversary of the Battle of Coral & Balmoral

 

The RAA Association (NSW) Inc. http://www.artillerynsw.asn.au/index.htm with the assistance from two volunteer photographers Bob & Chris Cook, attended the major activities for the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Coral & Balmoral during the period 12-14th May in Canberra and have created working versions of approx 4 hours of video (2.1Mb/sec - too high a resolution to display on broadband - the samplers are at 512mb/sec) that will be distributed on two double layer DVDs. The still images will be contained on a single DATA DVD that can be used to print off selected photos either on a computer or at a digital photographic kiosk

 

In order to make the project viable the Association requires 500 orders with payment of $25 per set of three DVDs for delivery anywhere in Australia. Orders are required by 15 August 08.  Legacy will be the nominated beneficiary of 75% of profits from the project.

Army Combat Badge (ACB)

 

The Army Combat Badge (ACB) is to be awarded to recognise any member of the ARA or ARes on continuous Full-time Service who has served for a specified period of time in warlike operations or situations. In exceptional circumstances, service on operations in other than warlike activities, such as peacekeeping, may also be recognised.   Australian Defence Medal (ADM)

 

The Government has announced Australia will recognise the service of former Defence Force personnel with this Australian Defence Medal (ADM). The ADM will recognise those volunteers who had completed their initial enlistment period, or four years service, whichever is the lesser. The Association provides here the Application Form for the ADM, or you can go direct to the Defence website.

 

If you have already lodged an application and have received an acknowledgment from the department, the Department asks please do not lodge another application form. You can contact the hotline number on 1800 111 321 to establish that your name is on their database.

   Pavers. Memorial Walk

 

North Fort Museum, the home of the National Artillery Museum invites you to be part of their "Memorial Walk". Our Association’s corporate-sized paver is in place depicting the Association’s name and Logo and we encourage members to get on board with pavers not only for themselves but for family members as well.
